Ethical Production

As a nonprofit social enterprise, the commitment to our staff and wider community is at the forefront of our operations. Bequia Threadworks supports the economic freedom of our dedicated team by ensuring high quality, year-round employment. Our vision is to create a vibrant local manufacturing industry to boost employment and household income on the island.

All employees earn significantly above Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' National Minimum Wage, with entry-level positions starting at 48% above the minimum. We operate a standard 40-hour working week with paid overtime available. Staff work in a safe and healthy environment, free from physical, psychological, verbal and sexual harassment.

Our Boutique and Production Centre are newly renovated and well maintained. We have invested in high quality equipment to support our ambitions of running a vertically-integrated business where all design, production, marketing and sales are done in house. These opportunities are unique within Bequia, and enable creative professionals to embark on a fulfilling and well-paid career. We offer ongoing training opportunities, promotions and personal development so that unique talents and cultural expression are nurtured.

Sustainability

With island nations such as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines being particularly susceptible to the effects of climate change, we believe in working with nature to demonstrate a better way of producing fashion.

We commit to a slow fashion mindset, creating beautiful pieces to become the wardrobe staples to wear and love for years to come.

Our fabrics are sourced responsibly with a particular focus on provenance and certifications, so you can trust what you invest in. Our collections are free from toxic chemicals and dyes, certified REACH or OEKO-TEX 100 Standard. We use natural fibres such as organic cotton and linen, or recycled polyester certified Global Recycled Standard. We also source novel deadstock fabrics which would otherwise end up in the landfill, for unique and thoughtful designs.

Our boutique packaging is free from plastic, instead using recycled, paper-based materials or compostable bio-polymers. It is also free from toxic chemicals and fully recyclable.
