Launching an online shopping website from our little corner of the world is no easy feat. After months of jumping through the logistical hoops and overcoming last-minute obstacles, we are proud to have our 2023 Collection available for returning and new customers around the world.
NOYO is designed in house by our all-woman team of designers, pattern makers and seamstresses. Living on the beautiful island of Bequia comes with its hardships, such as limited education and unstable employment. With each purchase of our effortless resortwear, we are able to help create stable, year-long employment for our entire team, and by extension benefit our island community. Without our Bequia Threadworks family, we never would have accomplished this milestone, paving the way for the expansion of the fashion industry in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The vertical nature of our business means investing in the team and their skillset. For instance, we recently collaborated with Norris Miller, a Vincentian patternmaker who has worked for international fashion houses, such as Calvin Klein, to share his knowledge of pattern making and perfecting our fit. This invaluable wealth of knowledge is an investment in the longevity of our organisation.
Thoughtfully designed by our Design & Product Manager, Odini Sutherland, ‘Into The Wild’ uses organic, natural and low impact fabrics including organic cotton and bamboo, ecological hemp and linen. Because island nations are particularly susceptible to the effects of climate change, we continue to keep in mind that we are part of nature and not separate from it.
